Winter Protection for Landlords
HomeLet are warning landlords of the dangers of inadequate insurance during the current arctic conditions. Freezing water in pipes and heating systems and leaking water tanks can result in expesnive repair costs.
In addition, landlords would be keen to avoid being called by a tenant late at night or at the weekend, and the difficulty of having to find an emergency plumber, builder or other contractor late at night.
Homelet suggest, the alternative is to purchase specialist insurance cover that provides protection against the risks associated with renting a property.
Homelets Managing Director, Mr John Boyle, said: “Our specialist landlords’ buildings and contents policies include Emergency Assistance as standard, which means landlords are covered for emergencies arising from plumbing and drainage, electricity supply, cooking systems, security, lost keys and roofing, down piping and guttering at no extra cost.”
Leon Price, of Woodstock Insurance Brokers said: "It is important to ensure landlords protect their property over winter, particularly landlords with unoccupied property where frozen pipes can burst and cause excessive unchecked damage"
