Leave Tools in Home Overnight not the Van

A police force warned workmen stating they should not leave work tools in van overnight.

Inspector Mark Cuddihy of Leicestershire Constabulary explained it can be inconvenient to empty your van at the end of the day but this is not as inconvenient as having to replace the stolen items."

He further advised workmen to keep their vehicles locked at all times especially when unattended. A suggestion by Inspector Cuddihy was also that people should consider putting up a sign in the van which says no tools left in van overnight. Although Inspector Cuddihy believes most van insurance policies would cover any similar losses, people should look to avoid the claim in the first place.
