Legal Expenses Warning for UK Landlords

Aviva, a significant insurer of UK landlords, has warned that property investors need adequate protection for the event of squatters occupying property.

They warn that insurers will only cover this risk if effective measures have been made to prevent the occupation by squatters.

Avivas Mike Colmans said: "It is imperative that adequate measures are put in place to prevent squatters from entering and taking ownership, as it can be notoriously difficult to remove squatters,"

Landlords and commercial landlords who have unoccupied property need to take appropriate measures to prevent squatting in their property.
