Salmond to talk to RBS

After RBS announced the loss of over 2,500 jobs, Alex Salmond is to hold talks with the banking giant.  2,000 of the losses are expected in the insurance sector with the remainder coming from the banking arms in London and Edinburgh.

The European Commission has told RBS that it must close hundreds of branches and the insurance business in a bid to ease competition concerns.  RBS have said that this reason alone caused it to accelerate the job cuts process.
