RBS Insurance Losses

As reported in the Financial Times, the recent release of the annual RBS Group results revealed a significant loss in the insurance business that is made of up of three brands; Churchill, Direct Line and Green Flag.

The losses can be put down to a combination of industry factors including weather related claims in recent years and a rise in the number of motor related personal injury claims.

RBS is planning as a result to focus on returning the insurance group to a profit in 2010 before selling the business in 2012.
