Oprah settles battle against insurance company
Harpo – Oprah Winfrey’s production company, settled its dispute with US insurance firm Mutual of Omaha over the use of the phrase “aha moment”.
Oprah often uses the phrase on her show to describe when an individual (sometimes herself) would experience a realisation within their daily life. By using the phrase in their advertising, Harpo had argued that Mutual of Omaha was trying to create an association with the popular TV host.
Mutual had revealed that they had featured the slogan since early 2008, and had no trouble when consulting the Patent Office on its usage.
Since the settlement, both parties have remained quiet on the case.
Mutual of Omaha provides a selection of critical illness and life insurance products.
