Motor Industry Sales Up in July

In excellent news for motor traders, July automotive sales rose 2% year on year, the first increase in 2009.  New car registrations exceeded 150,000 showing very positive signs that the motor industry downturn was easing.

The governments scrappage scheme along with other motor trader incentives is believed to be a driver in the turnaround in new car sales.  Commercial vehicles continue to suffer with sales considerably down.

The scrappage scheme has nearly had 150,000 orders since its start in mid May and many motor traders would like to see the looming deadline extended to continue the impact of the incentive.
