Machinery and Equipment Danger to Workers

The Irish injury board has proven the majority of injuries in the workplace is due to machinery and also has released the figure on claims in the year 2007.

In Ireland there are significant readings about the high amount of people getting injured in the workplace and the reasons why people are getting injured and many lessons may be applied to the UK.

Research taken out by the injury board in Ireland proves that in 2007 there was a total compensation of 25 million Euros for injuries in the workplace.

The average compensation award for a workplace accident was just over 26,000 euros whilst half of awards were less than 20,000 euros and 90 per cent were less than 50,000 euros. The research further states that 30 per cent of all injuries in the workplace were due to falls but a much larger percentage was due to machinery and defective equipment. In fact 7 out of 11 of the highest awards were due to machinery and defective equipment.
