Van Drivers Consider Battery Powered Vans

According to a new survey by van insurance customers van drivers are ready to consider using battery powered vehicles.

The survey also showed the extreme lengths at which some people are considering due to the credit crunch such as 60 per cent of owners are contemplating using chip fat and cooking oil as alternative fuel sources to help find ways around the credit crunch.

The head of marketing at the firm Manveer Arkan said “ Clearly there is a demand for battery powered vans and if manufacturers can build easily accessible, economically viable vans then there is no doubt that they’ll be embraced by tradesmen.”

A battery powered van is currently being tested in Coventry, Modec the producer of the van claims the van can travel 100 miles of a single charge, it will be able to reach a top speed of 50 mph and can carry a load of up to 2 tonnes. Leading supermarkets are already interested in the green cause vehicle and it is no surprise as the vehicle does not require road tax, is exempt from congestion charge and needs no fuel, instead it needs simple charging.
