SAAB CAR INSURANCE Saab attracted a loyal following with their 96,99 and 900 models all featuring wraparound windscreens and a different Swedish approach to car design. Having started out with 2-stroke engines Saab took out a license to build a British engine (from the Triumph Dolomite) and developed it into the fire-breathing Saab Turbo, still something of a cult car collected by enthusiasts. Saab are set for a large expansion in the near future. Having come under the wing of General Motors it seems that the powers that be in America have decided to use the Saab brand to sell a larger range of cars than the Swedish company produce, with 2 new cars due to be launched. The 9-2 is basically a Saab-aru Impreza and the 9-7 is due to be a large 4x4 of GM America origin. Meanwhile in Trollhattan the Swedes quietly carry on building the Vauxhall/Opel based 9-3 and 9-5 models which, whilst they aren't exactly the characterful Saabs of old, are very good cars (the 9-5 with a 3 litre turbodiesel is far and away the quickest diesel car I've ever driven).
