MG CAR INSURANCE Whilst MG went through a few ups and downs under British Leyland ownership they're certainly bouncing back now. The MGTF mid-engined convertible has to be one of the prettiest sports cars out there, (shame they didn't name it after the midget though, a name which might bring back more memories for current car buyers than the '50s TF) and the saloon range includes the Rover 25-based ZR, the 45-based ZS and the 75-based ZT plus the estate ZT-T. Some purists might think that the MG name shouldn't be used on fast versions of Rover cars, but MG's roots as Morris Garages were based around building high-performance versions of "cooking" saloon cars. With a new V8 engine powering the top of the range ZT260 saloon, and a heavily tuned version of the same engine having about 400hp squeezed out of it for the new X-Power supercar MG-Rover really are confounding expectations that they would struggle to survive on their own after BMW pulled out of ownership, the new V8 models even take the fight back to BMW, competing head-on with the Germans on performance and luxury.
