Superquote Glossary: Probate - Definition of Probate

Probate is the way in which a persons money, property and other assets are distributed in the settling of their estate after death.  A court generally gives authority for an individual or sometimes a group of people, called the executor / executors, to administer the assets / estate.

Most of the time, the executor has a soicitor to act on behalf of them.
