Superquote Definitions: Fronting

In a car insurance contract, the named driver section of the cover is designed to provide secondary or infrequent drivers insurance protection on the vehicle.

If a driver is going to be the main or principle driver on a policy, the quote and policy should be arranged in their name.  Many younger drivers and their parents front a policy in the older and more experienced drivers name to bring their premiums down.  In extreme cases this could cause the insurance contract to be void as not declaring the correct principle driver as a material fact could be fradulent.  The consequences of fronting can be serious.

If you are looking for young driver car insurance, follow the link, alternatively if you are considering insuring in a parents name, follow the latter link for more information.
