Superquote Terms: Endorsements
There are two parts to the definition and description of endorsements in insurance. One relates to your driving licence (i) and the other relates to any contract of insurance (ii).
Endorsements on Your Driving Licence (i)
If you receive a motoring conviction such as an SP30 for speeding on a public road, your licence will be endorsed. this endorsement shows the date of offence, fine, penalty points applied and any associated ban from driving.
Other endorsements to your licence may be from medical issues. Informing your insurer about a motoring endorsement is a material fact and so must be done.
Endorsement on an Insurance Contract (ii)
The other type of endorsement is a document that details changes to your policy mid term which your insurer will issue. Typical reasons for issuing one are that you have changed your car, added another driver or have changed your cover level.
Endorsements apply to every sort of insurane contract, not just motor.
