ABI: Association of British Insurers. An industry forum operating in the UK which represents the majority of the UKs insurance companies.  The ABI has about 400 members and organises a number of seminars and events.  Their website can be found here: www.abi.org.uk.

the ABI was founded in 1985 to merge a number of existing insurance and finance bodies.  This gave the single organisation much more power to help the industry.  The organisation is funded by fees from its members, employs around 100 people and is based in the city of London.
