What is a Q Plate?
A Q plated car or other vehicle (motorcycle / van) are designated with a special plate as they have a particular background. Often their past is unknown, they may be a recovered vehicle after a theft or their origin may be completely unknown. Kit conversion motor cars are often Q plated if they are built, a bit like Frankenstein, from several other cars. Q plates in themselves cannot be moved from one vehicle to another.
